We're very pleased to announce the 3rd full length release by Takashi Wada. Brand new people features collaborations with various Producers and musicans from Berlin - Wada's new homebase. Artists collaborating are Kassian Troyer, Miwon, Vladislav Delay, Guido Möbius, Gebrüder Teichman, Miwon, Robert Lippok. The result is a wunderfull and exciting musical diary on Wadas interpretation and experiences on the Berlin life and music scene.

The working title for this project was „Berlin Diary“. A remark on the fact that this album is not to be separated from the life of its artist Takashi Wada. Its a result of his daily life, its connected with his life – just as we all have in mind when we think about the myths of artistic existence. This daily artist life lead Wada after stations in New York, London and Paris now to Berlin – in the middle of the epicentre of the last payable Bohemian-Word-City. And even if Berlin for the Cosmopolite Wada is more like a small village in compartion to the last cities he lived and most of all to his hometown of Toyko, he managed to development an intensive relationship with the city within the last months, got to know a lot of the local scene members. And he will stay longer as planed.

ImageIf we look back, we see that his early working phases in New York and Paris were dominated by the search fort his own sound cosmos; first he had to find his own individual sound language („Meguro“), then he had to get deeper into it, make more sensible definitions („Araki“). His days in Berlin are recognizable by an intense amount of social interaction. Wada is meeting other artists all the time, not only within the big Japan community in Berlin, he is travelling between the different corners of the town, from Neu-Köln to Spandau, as well as he is making no differences by the genres the artists work in or the countries they come from. The total openess. He is acting with open ears, sees similarities and opposite approaches both as an interesting input in his own work. And in the end we all get new sound ideas from this.

With this album you get besides some great own compositions a lot of collaborations as a result of his new social lifestyle. The artists he did choose are quite different in their approaches, but not the less they all managed to create a unique homogenic album. Fitting in well with Takashi Wadas new musical direction. Lets call it Electronic Song writing. Wada found his voice as a new, direct way of communicating with the people. Therefore his words are integrated in diamondesque Electronicacompositions, a lot of them composed and played with so called real instruments, mostly the guitar (what for did he study so many instruments over the last years).  We all should be very interested how he will present this material live.

But before we go deeper into this topic, lets stay a little bit longer with „Brand New People“.
The album title comes from the mind of the artist himself as a result of feeling unhappy with the Berlindrop in the title. He thought the working title sounded to unpoetic. Fair enough. He wanted to go for a title which is corresponding more to his current phase of life. So here we go, that's his thoughts:
„On this album, i am mainly inspired by underground noise and hardcore music in Berlin. I went to see a lots of shows. After the second album, i was quite lost what to do. And i realized that if i want to change my sound then i should change my life style first like what to eat, drink, listen, see, think and everything. I went to see underground noise and hardcore concerts in Berlin. Then i get to know the people (very mixed people like American, Canadian, Italian, German, all over the country) and started to hang around with those noise kids and hardcore guys in Berlin. I am impressed very much how creative and motivated they are. I am really influenced by those kids, by their sound as well as the way they think. So the title came up as „Brand New People“. New way of thinking, lifestyle. New language, new country, post human being - to get into the future.
